#1) Strange Fruit
#2) Come Rain, Or Come Shine (my future wedding song)
#3) I Hear Music (best rendition I've heard yet)
#4) Solitude
Billie Holiday, Eleanora Fagan Gough, Lady Day: call her what you may, there is no mistaking this Jazz singer's bold and beautiful voice.
Her recognizable voice, featured in many motion pictures (including most recently: Public Enemies), is soothing and takes you on a journey to a time when things were simpler.
A time when morals still held value and being classy wasn't a fad. Listening to Holiday on any day puts a smile on my face and calms me down no matter how hectic things are.
While most of her songs revolve around love, her topics range from racism (Strange Fruit) to loneliness (Am I Blue?) peace (Solitude).
Billie Holiday, although your life ended prematurely, your voice will live forever.
