inspired to conspire

i was never really the type to believe in conspiracy theories, until i started habitually smoking pot which led to me creating conspiracy theories. (i'm only assuming it was the pot that was doing it since it re-prioritized what thoughts were important at the time). there are so many things in this world that aren't self-explanatory. when you begin to question things and you can't find a scientifically created answer, you start to think outside the box.. or as the government would have you believe: you start buying into "conspiracy" theories. by giving it such a negative connotation, no one is allowed to truly believe in a "conspiracy" theory without someone snickering and thinking less of them.

so when it came to picking a side about the 2012 A.D. conspiracy/doomsday theory, i was torn between a million things. #1-my lack of faith in humanity led to me being happy that the world could come to an end, #2- there have been a lot of horrible things going wrong lately, so maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if the world ended, and #3- crap. i fell in love and want to get married and have kids and find a fulfilling career, can't do that in 2 years.

i've been asking people if they believe in the doomsday theory. most people say no. some say they hope it's true. and maybe one or two are completely convinced that the world will end in 2012.

where did it all come from? The Mayan Long Count Calendar. . which says that our cycle ends on dec. 20, 2012 and is followed by a 14th cycle that marks the end of the world.

However, it is important to note that the calendar counts up to the year 4772. So wouldn't it be wise of us to realize that in order for our current year system to reach 4772, we would need people to carry out the same methods? And if the world is ending in 2012, no one would be alive to tell the future generations how to count years?
And why are we quick to assume that the end of a cycle marks disaster and not joy? Don't we celebrate a new cycle every new year's eve/day??

ugh. .people are so quick to believe in scams. it's an excellent way for the media to gain viewers, or for authors to gain readers, and for every other company to gain business by threatening that "hey, it's the last two years of your life, enjoy and spend all your hard earned money because you won't be needing it later."

so if i believe in any conspiracy theory right now, it's that. that things like 2012 are invented to scare people.

and if i'm wrong? well i guess it won't matter in 2 years anyways, right?
right. goodnight.
