briefly glimpsed at an article titled "Meet the new richest MAN in the world." [there actually wasn't an emphasis on man].
So many things bug me about this. Sure at first you're a little curious but, in all honesty does it matter? Unless you're the richest man, I don't think it matters one bit. It's just one more thing you can feel insecure about. My main concern with this is just how conniving America is. It tricks you into thinking you can make it BIG. In actuality there is less than 1% of "rich" people making it BIG in this country. That 1% controls the next 10%, and that 10% controls the next 20%.. and so forth. So.. no matter how rich you are, there's someone just a little richer than you. AND WHY DO WE CARE? Is money really that worthwhile? Why can't we just focus on things that matter.. like increasing access to health care for EVERYONE, maintaining healthy families, loving one another, etc. But I guess the American Dream is a concept that will never die. Because it's true, in America, anything is possible. You just have to fight for it. You just have to fight harder for it if you're not already a white collar worker, or blue eyed.
My secondary concern about this article is that inevitably it had to be about a man. Why wouldn't it be about a woman? Because women are not the primary wage-earners and therefore should not earn equal wages; men made sure of that long ago.
Example of inequality: Today they just acknowledged WASPs of World War II with the congressional medal of honor- 50+ years later.
WHY ARE WOMEN ALWAYS PUT SECOND? BECAUSE GOD MADE MAN FIRST?
Well, obviously He wasn't pleased with his first creation which is WHY He had to make another, more complete masterpiece.
Now, I come from a more advantaged disadvantaged position. Yes, I am a female. Yes, I am of Filipino descent. But I was raised completely with American traditions, and my caucasian side seems to control my mentality. While I do feel like a minority, I think like a white person. I am determined to not let my race or gender hinder the complete package that I am. I will let my work speak for itself, but all the same I will not keep quiet in the face of racism, sexism, etc. //End Rant.
