i was forced to retire my beloved blender today. after several years of pureeing, blending, pulsing, and grating, my dearest Oster blender was disfigured by an inevitable mishap. as i was pureeing my vegan soup, the plastic part of the lid (that is removable for the convenience of adding things while blending) fell through the enlarged hole of the rubber lid and was disfigured by the blades, leaving me with a blender full of tomato soup + plastic. but all was not lost because luckily i had made enough soup to feed a household and only a small portion was contaminated with blender lid bits.
i owned up to my mistake and replaced Mr. Oster with an immersion blender (to avoid this situation in the future). now i can puree my chunky soups with peace of mind (except for the fact that i still manage to make my soup airborne while blending).
all in all my first vegan dish was a success. i judge this by the fact that my boyfriend actually ate it (and my dad said it smelled good- ((he rarely makes a remark about anyone's cooking besides his own))). i just hope i don't end up breaking anymore appliances in my quest to create the majority of dishes from my Veganomicon cookbook.
